Gary responds to Wenger call for Europa League winners

Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville has agreed with Arsene Wenger that the Europa League winners should not be playing in the Champions League.

UEFA is trying to make the Europa League more competitive by allowing the winners to play in the Champions League. A major competition that Wenger has previously said is something UEFA will have to reconsider.

Gary also spoke about เล่นบาคาร่า UFABET เว็บตรง ค่าคอมสูง this issue, saying: “I agree with Arsene Wenger to some extent (that the Europa League winners should not qualify for the Champions League) because every game we watch now, we talk only about the money at stake.”

“Nobody talks about winning the Europa League to win trophies. The UEFA Cup and the Cup Winners’ Cup used to be big trophies that clubs who won them thought. ‘Wow, that’s a great achievement’.”

“Everything about the game these days is worth £60m or £100m (if they qualify for the Champions League). The FA Cup is starting to lose value, the really big competitions are losing value.”

For Tottenham, meanwhile, winning a first piece of silverware since 2008 would surely eclipse the significance of a place in the Champions League. And justify some of Ange Postecoglou’s bold claims earlier this year when he vowed to deliver a trophy.

This season’s Europa League final will be between Manchester United and Spurs. To be played in San Mames, Spain on Wednesday, May 21.
